You choose how the AI interviewer appears to candidates in Live AI interviews: as a talking video avatar, or by voice only. You can also change the interviewer's name and voice.
Turn the video avatar on or off
- In the sidebar, click Settings, then Live AI interviewer.
- Under Video avatar, tick or clear Show the interviewer as a talking video avatar.
- Click Save.
The Preview panel shows how the interviewer looks to candidates. Candidates always see the avatar labelled AI interviewer.
The default changes on 2026-11-20
Until 2026-11-20 the avatar stays off unless you turn it on. From then it is on by default. If you saved a choice yourself, your choice stays.
A few things to know:
- Our avatar provider receives only the interviewer's voice to move the face, never the candidate's audio or video. Candidates are told this before the interview.
- The avatar shows only if the candidate accepted the notice that mentions it. Otherwise that call runs with voice only.
- Only a limited number of live interviews at a time can show the video avatar. Any others at the same moment, and any interview where the avatar can't connect, run with the interviewer's voice only. No interview fails because of the avatar.
If the page says The video avatar isn't switched on for this workspace yet, interviews run with voice only. Email support@infyva.ai to ask about it.
Change the interviewer's name and voice
- Open Settings > Live AI interviewer.
- In Interviewer name, type the name candidates hear and see. The default is Nova.
- Under Voice, choose Female voice or Male voice.
- Click Save.
Only owners and admins can change this. Others see the settings read-only.
Choose the interviewer's face
Under Choose the interviewer, there are two tabs:
- Infyva avatars: Nova, our own AI interviewer. Every plan has her. Her face is an AI-generated portrait of a person who does not exist.
- Your company's avatars: custom faces your company made from a photo. Only people in your workspace can see them.
Click a face to select it, then click Save.

Paid in credits on Pro. 2 faces and 1 voice included on Enterprise. Custom voice is coming soon.
A custom face is made from a photo of a real person, for example someone on your team, who has agreed to it. Your workspace can have up to 3 custom faces.
On Pro: request a face
- Open Settings > Live AI interviewer.
- Under Choose the interviewer, click Request your own face.
- Enter an Avatar name. Add anything we should know in Anything we should know (optional), such as who the face is and when you'd like it.
- Click Send request.
Nothing is charged when you send the request. We reply to set it up with the person who agreed to be the face. Once it's made, it is paid from your credits:
| Your own interviewer on Pro | Credits, one time |
|---|---|
| Face and voice | 150 |
| Face only | 120 |
| Voice only (coming soon) | 60 |
It can take a few weeks.
On Enterprise: create a face from one photo
Enterprise includes 2 custom faces and 1 custom voice (custom voices are coming soon). More faces, up to 3, are paid in credits at the Pro rates above.
- Open Settings > Live AI interviewer.
- Under Choose the interviewer, click Create custom avatar.
- Choose a Photo: JPEG, PNG or WEBP, under 5 MB, with one person facing the camera.
- Enter an Avatar name and the Full name of the person in the photo.
- Tick the consent statement to confirm the person agreed.
- Click Create custom avatar.
The face takes about 4 hours. Its status moves from Queued to Being made (about 4 hours) to Ready. If it shows Failed, try another photo, try a clearer photo. When it is Ready, select it on Your company's avatars and click Save.
The photo goes to our avatar provider to make the face and is not kept by Infyva. A small preview stays private to your workspace. The provider is listed on our sub-processors page.
To remove a custom face, click Delete under it.
Custom voice: coming soon
The interviewer speaks with one of the two built-in voices, Female voice or Male voice. A custom interviewer voice is not available yet.
